The reason you’re at a holiday party is to focus on celebrating the season with your family members and friends. Number 1 rule: Never show up starving! Being hungry will make you eat A LOT of food, and consume way too many calories. Instead, allow yourself a well balanced snack beforehand- a serving of low- fat string cheese with an apple, maybe. Eat only what you really want to eat- pass up the rest. Don’t kid yourself into thinking that it’s a holiday party so you are entitled to “feast” on everything in your sight. Rule number 2: Try not to hang out in the kitchen or the buffet table where all the food can tempt you into eating more than you need, or even, want to.
