Not only is laughing a fun thing to do, it’s also great for your health. Studies show that laughing boosts your blood flow and can reduce your risk of developing heart disease, help fight infections, relieve hay fever, reduce levels of certain stress hormones, ease pain and help control diabetes!

Laughter is found to stimulate your mind, emotion, and body to release “feel good” chemicals in you body from endorphins to dopamine and oxytocin. Your laughing can flush out a variety of toxins in your body that helps get your lungs working and your heart pumping, providing more oxygen and blood supply to your body. As a matter of fact, laughing can be an aerobic workout!

Laughing for one minute, rigorously, can equal 10 minutes on a rowing machine or 15 minutes on a stationery exercise bike.  You can burn about 400 calories per hour just by laughing! Therefore, it is recommended that you laugh for at least 15 minutes a day, as well as regular exercise, to reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.

So, the next time you take a coffee break, why not take a laugh break instead? Or if your child is in pain, put on a hilarious comedy to alleviate some of the pain.
