Have a sore throat? Instead of using those over-the-counter sprays, lozenges and pastilles that don’t really work, or taking costly- not to mention having negative side effects- antibiotics, why not try a simple home remedy that has worked 100% of the time for anyone who’s ever tried it: SALT.

Salt is a very old remedy that kills bacteria. In the old days they traditionally used salt to
preserve meat and fish. Why? Because salt attracts water and attacks the bacteria cell walls, causing the bacteria to dehydrate and self-destruct in the process.

All you have to do is:

Use regular table salt.

Tilt your head backwards and shake a little bit of salt (2-6 shakes from a salt shaker; ¼ packet of a fast food style paper salt shaker) straight into the back of your throat. Make sure you shake it onto the base of your throat, into your throat, and not over the middle or tip of your tongue. That would taste disgusting!

DO NOT swallow anything (not the salt, not the saliva). Just let the salt dissolve into the back of your throat for as long as you can.

Do this throughout the day, especially at night, right before you go to sleep for the night. Do not eat or drink anything after you salt your throat. This is extremely important to do at night, because this is when most bacteria thrive. If you wake up in the middle of the night, salt again if your throat is still sore.

For severe soreness, salt your throat every 30 minutes.

Use salt as soon as you feel the first symptoms of a sore throat and the earlier you use it, the faster you’ll get rid of that sore throat. So, instead of suffering with a sore throat for a week or more, you can drive it away immediately, sometimes in less than a day. However, this remedy is not medical advice; it is a shared experience that really works!

Note: Not all sore throats are caused by bacteria. Some are due to viruses. Salt will not cure the virus; therefore it is still important for you to visit a doctor to make sure. However, this home remedy will not hurt you either way.
