Nowadays, it seems like EVERYONE owns a cell phone. Kids, younger and younger are getting them, and bringing them EVERYWHERE with them, and using them CONSTANTLY. However, when you are at the table, it is proper etiquette to turn off your cell phone, or switch it to silent, or vibrate mode before sitting down to eat. You should leave it in your pocket or purse. It is impolite to answer a phone during dinner. If you must make or take a call, excuse yourself from the table and step outside of the restaurant.

Picking up your phone and answering it while eating with others is not proper etiquette. Also, talking or texting on your phone at (or under) the table is NOT O.K.!
